Plague Post
Danger, Will Robinson. This is a time for slowing down and reading, lots of wonderful books out right now. Just finished Ann Patchett’s novel Dutch House, Ta-Nehisi Caotes’ The Water Dancer, and Delia Owens’ Where the Crawdads Sing. Rich reading, all of them. Different times, places and people.
And I’ve just finished a new short story set right in Santa Barbara. It’s called World Lit, about a misbehaving English teacher at our local Santa Barbara City College and the object of his affections, a nursing student.
These are strange times. The Coronavirus hanging in the air. No one knows (except writers) what to do with all the enforced time off. Everyone on our block is engaged in cleaning everything they can get their hands on. The back yard, the garage, all the bedroom closets. Trying to exchange or give away all the stuff they’ve been hoarding for years. Hoping, I’n sure, for a breath of fresh air.
Anyway, stay well, read lots, spread love, Slainte.
